Blessington Tourist Office also plays an important role in developing and leading community projects, promoting social and cultural connections, providing a platform for people to exchange ideas, share resources, and support one another. In the past we have held art exhibitions, Halloween walks, children’s art classes and storytelling.

We also offer window painting opportunities for local artists and window competitions.

Annual Halloween Party

A guided costume walk of the town, weather permitting of course, followed by some Halloween stories and treats in our office.

Christmas Fair Fundraiser

Our annual Christmas Fair for 2024 helped raise €812 for Aoibheann’s Pink Tie. In January 2025, we met with Aoibheann’s dad Jimmy to present him with the money and to hear more about the history of the charity.
We want to thank all members of the community who, by supporting our fair and local artists, helped us to raise this fantastic figure.

Masks For the Vulnerable

During the Covid pandemic, we handmade masks in our office and handed them out to the most vulnerable in our community

HALLOWEEN COSTUME SWAP SHOP

In October 2024 we hosted our first ever Halloween Costume Swap Shop. It was a great success and all leftover costumes were donated to charity. Our Annual Christmas Jumper Swap Shop takes place in November.

SUSTAINABILITY PLAN

In recent years, Blessington Tourist Office and Blessington Allotments Campaign have completed numerous projects both together and individually, related to waste and emissions reduction, and supporting and promoting biodiversity in the local area. In 2026 the two groups worked together to organise free electrical recycling events in Blessington that collected almost 10 tonnes of e-waste in total. These projects and the positive response and support from the local community inspired and informed the development of sustainabilityplan.ie and want to encourage and make it easier for other groups to take similar sustainability actions. https://www.independent.ie/county/wicklow/wicklow-groups-collaborate-to-launch-free-sustainability-planning-website/a/160283322.html?utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=hyperlink Building on previous successful partnerships and extensive experience with joint sustainability projects, the Blessington Tourist Office and Blessington Allotments Campaign formally launched sustainabilityplan.ie in August 2026. sustainabilityplan.ie enables any small businesses, community group, sports club or school to benchmark their current sustainability performance, set measurable targets over the next five years, and plan how they will make further progress. Pieta House Darkness into Light

In 2023, we joined Blessington & District Forum to run the Darkness into Light event. This event was a huge success and for all, a great cause

Repak Recycling Resource Awards

In 2025, we were nominated for a a Repak Recycling Resource Award alongside our friends at Blessington Allotments. It was an honour to be nominated and to represent Blessington and West Wicklow

Window Displays

Congratulations to Karen, Clarke, and Laura Dunne and Ava Jordan whose November display (‘Candy Lane’ was the winner of our window competition. Thank you to everyone who took part they were all amazing.

Charities

We are also proud to have raised money for many local charities including West Wicklow Cancer Support for which we raised €1’003, Pieta House for which we raised €1’122, Community Pool for West Wicklow for which we raised €1’000, and The Blessington Day Care Centre for which we raised €801

In 2022 we held a special community appeal for Ukraine where our office was a drop-off point for those who wished to donate essential items.
