Seefin Passage Tomb

Seefin Passage Tomb is a 5’000 year old monument located at the top of Seefin Hill in County Wicklow.
It has been listed as a National Monument.
It was constructed around 3,300 BCE.
The tomb was excavated by R. A. Stewart Macalister in 1931 although no artefacts or remainswere found.
The monument is located on top of Seefin Mountain, close to Kilbride Army Camp

Athgreany Stone Circle (The Piper’s Stones):

Athgreany is stone circle of comprising of 16 grey granite stones, as well as an outlier stone which contains rock art.
The circle is situated 2 km south of Hollywood, off the N81.
The stones range in height from 1.3 m to 1.92 m.
The construction of the circle is estimated to be from the late Bronze Age, at roughly 1400–500 BCE. The circle is roughly 23 m in diameter.

Knickeen Ogham Stone
Knickeen Ogham Stone

Knickeen Ogham Stone is a megalith which stands approximately 8 feet high.
It contains an ogham inscription reading “Maqi Nili”.
The stone can be found in a forest clearing near the Glen of Imaal.
This Ogham Stone has been dated to between 400-550AD.
Ogham is the earliest form of writing in Ireland dating back to the early Christian era.

Castleruddery Stone Circle

Castleruddery is a Bronze Age (2500-500BC) embanked stone circle located 1/2 km west of Glen Lounge cross roads, on the left hand side.
It consists of twenty-nine boulders with two large white quartz stones forming what may have been the entrance.
The circle itself is surrounded by an embankment about 1.2 m high..

Rathcoran: Baltinglass Hill

Rathcoran is a passage grave and hillfort and National Monument located on top of Baltinglass Hill, in West Wicklow.
It has been dated to roughly 3500–3000 BCE, during the Neolithic.
The cairn was built with local granite and contains a number of different chambers and passages.

The Blessington Lakeside Heritage Project is an initiative to explore and record the heritage of West Wicklow, developed by the Heritage Office of Wicklow County Council in association with the local community
